Sunday June 15, 2014 Market day

Sorry for the delayed blog update!  We had a busy day yesterday.  We woke up and had a wonderful Guatemalan breakfast. Then we worshipped with the Grace church from Indianapolis who is also staying at the Casa del Rey hotel as well.  Then we split off in to groups and went to market day!   I would like to point out our most savvy shoppers of the day were Abby B. and Oliver S.  Oliver and Abby displayed excellent negotiating skills which yielded them and the rest of the clan some authentic Guatemalan goods.  Helen A. experienced her first market day and made friends with almost every vendor that she came in contact with. By the end of the day plenty of the vendors knew Helen by name and followed her from place to place! One of the purchases that was immediately put to good use was a drum purchased by Laura D.  After the market day we went to Pastor Abel's church and performed two songs that we had been rehearsing and Erin M. Played guitar and she was accompanied by Laura D. on her Guatemalan drum.  Then we returned to the hotel for a wonderful Italian dinner. Bill Vasey came and shared his story with the group. He was the first person the translate the Bible into Quiche so that the local people could hear the word.

On Monday we will split off into small groups and go to the Chulamal school and the Chichi school for two days of Vacation Bible School.  Then in the afternoon we will be doing several construction  projects throughout the city. One group will be working on a Pray America house for a family and the other group will be working on a big concrete project.

We just ask for your continued prayers for good health, strong backs and arms, and that we can show the people of Guatemala God's love.

Thank you!
